The Role

The IT Systems Specialist position requires a hands-on, dynamic person with a special blend of technical and communication skills. In this role, you will manage, troubleshoot and work with a large number of diverse business environments and clients as their first point of contact. The work tends to be fast-paced with many projects going on at the same time and requires great focus, attention to detail and the ability to shift gears quickly. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable administrator who has great technical skills and is able to dive deep, handle multiple projects simultaneously and communicate at all levels!

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of five years in the industry with a focus on client-server IT infrastructure (networking, file/print, email/collaboration, security, backup/disaster recovery, etc.). The ideal candidate will have experience working in a diverse multi-client environment and have a blend of business experience, hands-on technical ability, a capacity (and desire) to learn and the ability to work with users at all levels.

The position requires strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:

  • Microsoft Products including: Windows XP/Vista/7, Windows Small Business Server 2003/2008/2011, Windows Server 2003/2008/R2, Hyper-V, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, IIS, SharePoint, Terminal Services (RDS), etc.
  • Networking at all seven layers including: DHCP, DNS, VPN, proxies, firewalls and LAN/WAN routing/switching
  • Hardware including: general SMB environment hardware (HP, IBM, Dell, SonicWALL, APC, etc.)
  • Third-party infrastructure solutions including: back-up and disaster recovery, document management, collaboration, security, antivirus/antispam systems, etc.

Other requirements:

  • Great communications skills (both written and oral), including the ability to discuss technical issues patiently and comfortably with users at all levels, from the CEO to the front desk.
  • Ability to focus and shift gears quickly.
  • Good organization and detail orientation.
  • Collaborative, team-player approach.
  • Entrepreneurial nature with the ability to create and follow up on opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Self-discipline, with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for quality of work.
  • Certifications, including MCITP, MCSE/MCSA, MCTS and/or SBSC are not required but highly desired

Compensation

    Salary will be commensurate with experience.
